Regarding oldest sister's blog about the Smokey the Bear incident, the following is how I remember it....in my 4 year old world:
**Begin 1985 Flashback**WOW! I have Creative Play (preschool) today! I can't wait to see what I get to do today!! I am in afternoon preschool, so we wait until General Hospital goes off, then hop into the car (making sure there aren't any cats under the car, since we have about 50).
What's this? A fire truck! How cool!! What's that giant bear doing by the fire truck? Holy crap! It sounds like my mom's in there...but my mom's not Smokey the Bear, or is she? Why won't Smokey talk to me anymore? **End 1985 Flashback**
My mom repeatedly denied the whole thing until one day I was flipping through my personal files and found a clipping of that very day. My entire preschool sitting on a fire truck, with Smokey the Bear standing right beside the firetruck. The caption read, "Jane Heeke plays Smokey the Bear"
BUSTED!!!

You didn't go to preschool....they didn't have preschool where you grew up! I remember and I was older (just a bit) than 4.

"Creative play" sounds kind of sketchy though.

Actually it was called Mother's Day Out, or Creative Play. It was most definitely the area's first preschool.
Did that cover all the bases?
