What's new today? I think I'm gettting close to a new job. THINK....anyway, I'm not getting too excited about it yet. Last night after starting my myspace page I ended up spending around 2 hours messing around with colors and pictures on it. I have decided it's the devil.

October 09, 2007

Okay, so I cracked and started a myspace page.

Nothing too major has been going on lately. I turned 26. Married life is just about like life before, except now I think if I got pregnant I'd be happy about it. :) Anyway, my job is going away at the end of this month and I've been looking for another. So far there has been no takers of the employment of the wonderment known as Amanda. Not freaking out though....yet.

I forgot to say earlier that Spectrum Sound is the worst DJ ever.

For those of you dying to know.... here's what we mostly did on our honeymoon:

We stayed at the Forgotten in Time Cabins in Derby, which is about a mile away from the highway deep in woods. When we got there on Sunday afternoon we were greeted with a refrigerator full of food and drinks thanks to cousin Eric and Teresa (Mt. Dew, yum)! There was also a basket of goodies from cousin Valerie. Very thoughtful. We grilled out dinner and spent some time on the lake/pond thing.

The next morning we had a really great breakfast and then went down a small path to the creek that feeds into the Ohio river. We took the provided canoe down the creek and saw so many fish, it was nuts! We made it to the river, which was about a mile and a half trip. Chris wanted to go canoeing in the river, but not me. I didn't want to get swept away into the Mississippi or anything, which would probably have been impossible. When we got back, we went swimming in the lake- well, Chris swam, I floated on a raft. Our lunch plans were to drive to Leavenworth and eat at the Overlook restaraunt. Turns out it was a big drive, but worth it. Eating lunch overlooking the river was a lot of fun. We decided to keep driving, and ended up at Marengo cave. We took a short 1/2 mile cave tour, which was fine with me (we were wearing shorts).

We were going to keep driving, but I was ready to head back, we had a lot of driving to do back. We saw a sign that said "Buzzards Roost" which we were interested in seeing. We took the side road and drove and drove and drove.

Buzzards Roost was a tiny little roadside park that you could almost make out the river through the trees. We got out of the car and saw a path. There was a sign that said it was a 1/2 mile trail. There wasn't much trail to it, mostly making your way down rocks. It winded down a hill and cliffs and ended up right on the river. We looked around the river for a while for arrowheads (weeeee!) and I found a few small pieces of flint. Some people boating thought we were stranded. We went back up up up the hill and drove on to the cabin.

After a bit of relaxing and feeding the HUGE grass carp in the lake we cleaned up and decided to have dinner at Rocky Point marina. This was going to be the highlight of the day, but they weren't open on Monday. They said to come back Wednesday (not possible). So we drove into Tell City and ate at the Patio. Chris had only the dessert bar and I had the salad bar. Then back to the cabin.

The next day we got up and watched some tv then packed it up to go back to Terre Haute. All in all, it was a relaxing few days. I'm looking forward to a vacation next year where we can go some place without so many bugs. :)

I've added a pic of us at the bottom of Buzzard's Roost, which I guess you could call it "buzzard's bottom"

So I don't think I can say the wedding went off without a hitch. Chris' niece single handedly ruined the one part of the ceremony that I was most looking forward to. She showed up just in time to even see the wedding, and was supposed to sing. First of all, she didn't think she could sing the song that was picked out, so I think she was mentally against it. The song was "I Need You" By LeAnn Rimes. Not a hard song. She couldn't get the microphone to work (this is because she didn't test it) and ended up blowing the whole thing. It took everything I had to not lunge and strangle her. Seriously.
Then Chris' mom apparently got a phone call on her cell !?!?!?!? WTF?! She kept saying "someone answer the phone!" (She has Alzheimer's, so not sure if the phone was in her head or in reality)
Then the version of the Lord's Prayer in the Church of Christ is not the same as the Catholic version, which I have to tell you, 90% of the congregation that day was. It sort of petered out in the middle and ended up everyone mumbling some sort of ending.
The reception was fine...except the DJ was a big piece of shit that had no brain. The guy I dealt with at the DJ place said "don't worry, everything will be taken care of...." NOT! Huge Uuuuughhh! Chris' son decided to pout the entire time because he wasn't the center of attention, but you know, I didn't really care about that.

Everything else was beautiful and wonderful. :) I hope everyone that went had a good time. I know I did! I don't ever plan on doing it again, so I think we did it in style!

Okay people! Less than one week before the wedding and it's all ready to go. If I hear anyone bitching about anything I will ignore them for the rest of the weekend and possibly for the rest of my life.

Members of the wedding party: It is your responsibility to keep everyone happy. We will not discuss Chris' parents not coming because they are crotchety old people. We will not discuss why certain things are placed the way they are. Just deal with it and be happy and have fun.

Guests: Do not complain about the food, the drive, the heat, the cold, the music, the decorations, the ANYTHING. If you do- I will set one of my thugs to tell you how it is going to be. We have a place for people like you- you know who you are- the people who have nothing nice to say about anything and can only be happy when upset- the place for your type is the hotel, grumbling to yourselves, because no one wants to hear you.

To my parents: Thank you for everything and I appreciate everything! Don't forget to pay attention to me!

To my sisters: Thank you for throwing me a beautiful shower and for doing everything how I imagined. I love you two and am happy to call you my sisters.:)Don't forget to pay attention to me!

Love you all bunches and I hope everyone has a good time! If not, pretend you are for my sake!!

You Are a Boxer Puppy
Energetic, playful and good with kids. You've also got a wild spirit that can't be trained or tamed.

So we have about 84 people who have RSVP'd for the wedding. That's not too bad and we still have a week left. I've been trying not to stress out too much about my work situation, or the whole wedding deal, but I'm pretty sure I have stomach ulcers.

I asked my pregnant bridesmaid if she's even tried on her dress yet, and she said no, but she's taking it to be altered this week. Not like there's a wedding in four weeks or anything. Ugh. We finally have a ring bearer and bought a cute little outfit for him. Hopefully he'll show. He is Chris' nephew's kid, and his parents (who are in their early twenties) recently "broke up" and she's not letting the guy see his son, because technically she doesn't have to until they get a DNA test to prove this kid is his. Welcome to Dramaville! Anyway, I guess if I have nothing nice to say, I shouldn't say anything, but then what would I talk about?

Chris says the reason I like the comedian Kathy Griffin so much is that we're a lot alike. Have you seen her show "my life on the D list" on Bravo? It's stinkin hilarious!

June 30, 2007

So I decided to get back on the blogger horse again. Do you love the update? It's always good to have a fresh new start. There is lots to do today: clean the house, get a ring bearer's outfit, send thank yous from the awesome bridal shower I was thrown last weekend, water the plants, mow the yard, blah blah blah. It's a nice weekend to get things done.

Alright kids, better get to it!

The reception and possibly wedding will be at the Fulton Hill Community Center in Troy. I bought my dress last Friday and this weekend my bridal party will be looking at dresses. I am thinking the colors will be a dark teal and brown with accents of magenta and tangerine. I still need to ask a lot more people to participate in the wedding, but I'm pretty sure I won't get turned down by anyone. We shall see. I'm looking forward to having everyone here this weekend. Chris and I are due a trip to Chicago. We haven't been there in what seems like forever, but the drive there royally sucks.
On a different tangent, I can't believe that Anna Nichole passed away. I was on my way home from work today and Chris called and was like "Do you know who Anna Nichole is?" I said yes and he said "we'll she's dead." He's so eloquent and full of tact. :)

It's been a while since I've blogged. For some reason the site didn't work for me. Anyway, nothing new. I bought my dress on Friday. The colors will be a robins egg blue/teal and some other colors. I'm thinking magenta and orange and brown. Not sure yet, but I'm sure it will all work out in the end. I bought the dogs some sweatshirts at Rural King this weekend. They look so dang cute!

OK, so I have narrowed the wedding venues to two places: Tennessee or Evansville. Should I not find a place in Evansville to fit the budget, I would still want people to go to Tennessee. Who of the people who read my blog would go? I am thinking late July, early August. Let me know. I am just curious to see who'd travel to see a wedding.

You know how on mac and cheese boxes you have to push in the side and rip the top off? There's a tiny corrugated line where you are supposed to push and it's supposed to magically pop in? I have never been able to do it until today. I successfully opened a box of mac and cheese the way the box tells you to. 25 years it took, but gosh darn it, I got that box open like a pro.

You know what? I'm really embarassed for Britney Spears. It seems like someone with that much money would be more fashionable and tasteful. Seriously, it's too bad that everyone cares about every step she takes, because she's in a downward spiral that she's not going to recover from. Basically, she's white trash. Where does her money go? She needs a stylist. Look at Paris Hilton, she's a total skank, but she looks good being a skank. Britney just looks like some sort of trashy hillbilly. I can't believe that I care, but I do. She's my age. How did that happen to her? Once she met Kevin Federline, she just started showing some ugly side. She went from top of the top pop star to jean short wearing, pregnant walking around in gas station barefoot. Oh man. I feel sorry for her.

I have never had a job where a hard hat and steel toed shoes are needed. It's sort of exciting, because I feel all official. I am the only person in the whole place who doesn't have stickers on their hard hat. Apparently you have to earn them by going to training and junk. I got some really cool steel toed shoes that look like hiking shoes and they're yellow. Not like I'm trying to start a trend, but I bet they're the coolest out there!

I kid you not, I get off the couch for 30 seconds, and this is what I come back to:

Two stinky butt couch hogs.

I called the priest at home today to see what steps I needed to get married in the church. I have a feeling that he doesn't want to mess with me. This is our conversation:

Me: Hi, I'm A.H, daughter of P & J H. I would like to get married on 7/7/07. What steps do I need to take?
Him: How old are you?
Me: 25
Him: Never been married?
Me: No
Him: How old is he?
Me: 38
Him: So he's been married once, (pause) or twice?
Me: Once
Him: uuuhh, well, hmmmmm......I can't exactly tell you much. First you'll have to get an anullment, which involves proving that the marriage shouldn't have happened.I can't work with you on anything related to the wedding until that is approved.
Me: It wasn't my marriage, I'll have to ask him to take care of that.
Him: Right, they will have to meet with a priest to discuss uh, hmmmm why their marriage ended.
Me: What if she doesn't cooperate?
Him: Well, hhhmmm..... (pause)then we can't approve anything.
Me: Well, I hate to say to say it, but if I'm not approved by the church to get married, I'll end up going somewhere else that will. I am just really connected with St. Johns.
Him: Ummm....well....(pause)I can't bend any rules (pause)hmm.....I can't tell you anything concrete, we'll just have to meet in person.
Me: Ok, I'll just take care of it here and then if that gets taken care of, then I'll let you know.

I'm really just thinking of saying screw it. It's too much trouble.
